IELTS General Training tutoring
Migration and work visas usually ask for General Training, and they set a minimum for every skill rather than an Overall. A Band 9.0 instructor who taught IELTS at Pagoda Academy into a 14th year prepares the General letter and reading separately from Academic, and starts with the skill furthest from its minimum.

Who this is for
Migration to Canada, Australia or New Zealand
Many systems convert each skill separately. One short skill can cost you the level you need, so that skill comes first.
Work abroad or residency
Requirements usually come with a deadline, so the plan is built month by month around the time you have.
Switching from Academic to General
Listening, Speaking and Writing Task 2 carry over. Only the letter and General reading are new.
What General Training needs on its own
Listening and Speaking are identical in both modules, and Writing Task 2 has the same format. Three things differ.

Task 1 is a letter
State the purpose early, cover all three bullet points, and hold the right tone (formal, semi-formal or informal) for the reader to the end. Missing any one costs Task Achievement.

Reading needs more correct answers for the same band
General reading uses practical texts such as notices and workplace documents, but its conversion is stricter: for 7.0, roughly 30 correct in Academic against about 34 in General.

The target is a minimum per skill
Canada's CLB 9, for example, is Listening 8.0, Reading 7.0, Writing 7.0 and Speaking 7.0 in General Training. Each system differs and changes, so we check the current requirement of your application first.
