Online IELTS tutoring

Online IELTS tutoring, wherever you live

If you live in Canada, the US or Australia, or somewhere in Korea that is hard to travel from, lessons run one-to-one on Zoom. A Band 9.0 instructor who taught IELTS at Pagoda Academy into a 14th year checks lesson availability in your time zone with you and explains in Korean. In-person lessons are also available in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Who this is for

Koreans living abroad

Local schools explain in English and Korean academies run on Korean hours. This is Korean explanation, in your hours.

Working while you study

No commute, so one hour before or after work is enough.

No IELTS teacher nearby

Outside Seoul you get exactly the same lessons.

What changes when lessons are online

The gaps that come with a screen are closed in advance.

  1. Time zones are settled before the first lesson

In summer Vancouver is 16 hours behind Korea and Toronto 13, so a morning lesson even changes the date. The student portal shows lessons and deadlines in your local time, with Korean time alongside.

  2. Materials and feedback in one place

Homework, test papers, listening audio, essay reports and recording feedback all sit in the portal. No digging through chat history for files.

  3. You sit the test locally

IELTS is now computer-delivered (Speaking is still face to face), so you sit it the same way at a centre in your country. Many centres also offer One Skill Retake.

How lessons run

  1. Zoom 1:1

We edit essays on a shared screen, and Speaking runs in the real test order.

  2. Homework through the portal

Submit essays and speaking recordings in the portal and reports come back there, along with your scores and weak question types.

  3. In person in Gangnam too

In Korea, in-person lessons are also available in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and you can mix the two.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are online lessons as effective as in person?
Most IELTS work is editing essays together and listening to you speak, which works the same on screen. Afterwards the materials and feedback stay in the portal, which makes review easier.
Which countries do students join from?
Anywhere in Korea, and from places with large time differences such as Canada, the US and Australia. Tell us where you are and when you are free.
What happens before the first lesson?
Send one essay over KakaoTalk and it comes back reviewed for free, with no call. If you want, a 30-minute level check and a trial lesson come next.
